May 27, 2014— Outbox was selected to receive a WeTech Seed Fund Grant to support its Women Passion program project in Uganda. The Women Passion program is an experiential based-learning initiative to equip up-to 100 girls and women with programming and entrepreneurship skills.

PIVOT East 2014 Semi-finalists Announced

Nairobi Kenya, May 6,2014 - PIVOT East, an innovative startups competition geared  towards nurturing the growing ICT talent in East Africa, has unveiled semifinalist for this  year’s competition. The competition opened a call for applications in February 2014 with startups from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Ethiopia applying through an online  portal (startups.pivoteast.com)

Mbarara University First Annual ICS Awards

On 30th April, 2014, The Institute of Computer Science, Mbarara University School of Technology held their first Annual ICS Awards, which saw Inovations from Students in ICS recognised and rewarded in different categories including two ideas from first and second year students.

The Award was aimed at stimulating, harnessing and honoring student ideas to sustainable ICT entrepreneurship.

The folowing were the objectives of the ICS Award:

·To develop a culture of innovation in the Institute of Computer Science and the whole university

On Friday 2nd May, 2014, Outbox hosted Don Onwunumah a software systems architect currently working at PigStyCoders for a one days Raspberry Pi workshop which brought together over 30 participants including 6 ladies in the space.
