Outbox EDU Prep II

The call for applications for the second cohort of Outbox EDU Prep II is on. A 5-week full-time (8am-6pm) Introduction to Programming Course. Great for those with limited or no experience in software engineering.

Building on the success of the first cohort, We are accepting applications for our second cohort of the Outbox EDU Prep course.

This course is for beginners to learn the fundamentals of programming and for more established developers looking to sharpen their base of front-end skills.

The course will run from 4th March to 5th April, 2019 (8am - 5pm EAT everyday) at Outbox Hub, 4th Floor, Soliz House, Lumumba Avenue, Kampala, Uganda.

After completing this course, you’ll be able to build basic web pages, and understand the fundamentals of front-end development and programming. No coding experience is required, but computer proficiency is necessary.

The first cohort had fifteen (15) participants from different backgrounds that included Legal, Architecture, Fire-fighting to mention but a few. Watch their impact story below

About the course

The course accepts individuals without prior experience in software development. It leverages a blended learning approach that equips you with the software development skills, and soft skills required to transition you into the workplace. During Outbox EDU prep, we shall facilitate your learning through project based assignments, pair programming and peer assessments.

All you require is computer literacy skills, passion/grit, a tech mindset and a desire to pursue a career in technology.

At the end of the course, you will be supported to enroll for Outbox EDU Core, a 15 week full time program to further hone your skills. Thereafter graduates are assured of potential job placements from any of Moringa’s 50+ hiring partners all over the African continent.

The curriculum

  • HTML and CSS: web presentation and styling languages

  • Git: the tool programmers use to track code

  • Command line: the tool programmers use to interact with their computers

  • Markdown: a simple language for documents

  • JavaScript: a web programming language

  • Jquery: a JavaScript library for making interactive web pages

  • Bootstrap: a framework for easily creating user-friendly websites
