Outbox software engineers develop products for its partners, with a focus on social impact. This ranges from analytical tools to customising open source software. We are looking for engineers that value excellence, and can manage individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables.

Our ideal candidate is an organized and mission-driven connector with a strong network of startup and enterprise thought leaders.

What you will do:

• Write back-end code for web-based applications. Develop prototypes quickly, and high production applications

• Optimize web applications to operate at speed and scale

• Build any libraries or APIs required between applications

• Perform testing and debugging of the application developed

• Oversee the deployment pipeline for the application developed by setting up infrastructure and ensuring it is working.

• Write code and complete programming using a defined programming language

• Develop and work in an agile/scrum environment to delivery high quality software

• Establish architectural principles, and select appropriate design patterns

• Perform integrations between open source tools and another custom app

Minimum Qualifications

Experience with one or more general purpose languages including but not limited to Javascript, Python, Java to mention but a few

A Bachelor of Computer Science degree or related qualification

Preferred: Familiarity with a full stack

You care about sound engineering practices like continuous delivery, defensive programming, and automated testing

You have good understanding of data structures and algorithms, and understand how to apply them to design pragmatic solutions.
