Become an Outbox associate

We are looking for someone to provide support on our startup support initiatives. These range from initiatives targeted towards urban youth, to those outside the capital targeted to refugees and their host communities. Some of our programs include Up Accelerate (in partnership with UNFPA) targeted towards young people in Northern Uganda and West Nile; the ReHope program in partnership with Mercy Corps -- where we are using a market systems approach to link Social Enterprises interested in piloting products/services within vulnerable communities in Yumbe district to mention but a few;

We are looking for a “super-doer” to assist with the daily execution of our programs. You will work directly with our lead, attending to multiple initiatives. These will range from providing support to the startups in our programs like mentor matching, to executing against various activity work plans -- like organising trainings, developing toolkits for startup support, tracking startup metrics to mention but a few. You will work on hackathons, innovation seminars, etc;

You will travel a lot (60%), mostly in Uganda, to oversee the execution of our startup programming. We hope you love being super organised, learning fast and closing tasks quick -- as you will be juggling multiple projects/initiatives.

This is a full-time role at the organisation.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the implementation of the various activities defined for our startup programming;

• Document and keep track of key metrics for our startup initiatives (incubators and accelerators) and startups so as to grow our programs;

• In collaboration with our communications associate, develop & deliver messaging to our community startups, internal and external stakeholders;

• Enhance the sharing of opportunities for the startups in our network;

• Validate any logistical aspects for startup trainings with our administration lead;

• Develop and consolidate tools for startup programming. This ranges from training materials (curriculum) to knowledge management tools

• Coordinate with our partners, and other incubators/accelerators in the community

The profile we seek:

• You have a Degree in business, economics, I.T and/or a first hand successful experience in business development, sales, consulting, operations;

• You are curious, and want to know the new tech trends, startups, entrepreneurship and venture capital;

• You want to develop your entrepreneurial spirit;

• You want to have a first startup experience;

• You are methodical and organised, you reach optimistically and efficiently to last minute problems;

• Juggling multiple projects is a source of positive energy for you;

• You are obsessed with metrics and how they improve learning;

• You have a good at English, both written and oral. You are charismatic;

• You have no problems interacting with high-level contacts;

• You are comfortable travelling out of the capital to various places in Uganda.
