About the Event

Introduction

R is an open source programming language for statistical computing, data analysis, and graphical visualization ( http://www.r-project.org/ ). R has a very huge user community worldwide, and its user base is growing exponentially. While most commonly used within academia, in fields such as computational biology and applied statistics, it is gaining currency in commercial areas such as quantitative finance and business intelligence.
Kampala R is the local User group of R. Our goal is to support and share R experiences and knowledge among its users in the Ugandan community. Kampala R user group is supported by Outbox: a local tech hub in Kampala.
The local user group meets once every month. Each session has consists of a tech talk, and a simple demonstration of R features or tools.
To end the year, this month’s R meetup will host Chris Lwanga, Senior Director Software Partnerships at Microsoft. Chris will be sharing on Microsoft’s Azure Cloud service for startups, and the various services it offers that utilise R that can be utilised by startups in the development of data driven products.
