About the Event

Outbox EDU, in association with Living Goods, Medic Mobile and Omnitech is hosting a Community Health toolkit (CHT) android deployment engineering challenge on 9th January 2020, 8 am - 5 pm EAT. Please register here by 7th January 2019. 

 

This initiative seeks to identify and foster innovation in the Android community based on the Community Health toolkit. Ultimately, the challenge is meant to grow a sustainable technical support resource pool for the Community Health Toolkit and its implementers. 

 

In line with Outbox EDU's vision, the overall objective of the challenge is to identify up-to eleven (11) good quality engineers that will be provided with fully paid internship for a period of six months. 

 

Outbox EDU seeks to unlock the youth potential by increasing access to industry-relevant digital skills (including transferable soft skills) and linkages to workforce placements through workforce acceleration.


The Community Health Toolkit (CHT) is a project by a group of leading organizations who have come together to support the development of digital health initiatives in the hardest-to-reach areas. It provides you with resources to design, build, deploy, and monitor digital tools for community health. It includes open source software frameworks and reference applications highlighting common use cases, guides to help design and use them, and a community forum for collaboration and support.

Target Audience

The challenge is open to everyone. Individuals with android deployment / development experience are particularly welcome. Those with interest in contributing to open source software. 

Students and recent graduates in Computer science, software Engineering or a related course. 

A valid government issued ID is required to register.

Pre-requisites

  • Experience/ knowledge Installing /configuring Android devices and software are particularly valuable. Presenting and training of technical material to a non-technical audience will be a significant advantage in the challenge.
  • A functional laptop to use during the challenge. Each participant will contribute to the challenge in an individual capacity. There will not be any teams. 

Availability

Successful participants must be available for an internship program for the first half of 2020 Jan- June.
