On 13th Monday January, 2014, Outbox hosted a team from Ringier AG. Robin Lingg, the Head of business Development, Ringier AG and other team members, Julian Artope, Head of business Development, Ringier Africa and Kenny Kinako, the VP Classified Africa for start-up mentorship and pitch session.
Robin has been Head of Business Development AG since May 2013, where he was also a member of the Board of directors of Ringier AG since July 2011. He has worked in different positions for the internationally operating pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim, GmbH since 2006, including heading their sales division in Mxico and central America.
Julian joined Ringier in 2012 and is building Ringier's African operations out of Nairobi, Kenya. He scaled studiVZ to become Germany's largest website, grew Monkeybookers/Skrills to a £100M revenue operation and is co-founder of Shoeboxed Inc.
Kenny joined Ringier in 2011 and was operating as Business Development Manager East Africa before becoming VP Classifieds Ringier Africa in July 2012. Kenny worked in various positions for companies like Naspers, Seven Seas Technologies and Versatel Systems.
We had different teams from different companies such as Jaguza, Shop247, Intel World, Kola Studios and Codesync participating. Many other members of the Tech comunity were also present to witness the activities. The event ended with a neworking session.
The purpose of the mentorship and pitch session which lasted 2 and a half hours was to enable the participants engage and receive valuable feedback from the Ringier team, and from the feed back received, it was a success. Among other, the team discussed how to create jobs for the African community through technology.
