NTV Ideas Lab info-session; What transpired

The NTV Ideas Lab took place last weekend at Outbox, bringing together close to 60 individuals interested in participating in the initiative. The event had NTV Uganda, Outbox, African media initiative and UGO Uganda well represented.Aggie Konde, the Managing Director at NTV Uganda was available to give the opening keynote, which briefly highlighted why NTV Uganda decided to be part of this initiative. NTV Uganda is looking at this initiative enabling it achieve it's vision to be "The most viewed and most trusted television channel for Uganda". NTV Uganda is interested in digital solutions that can positively transform society. Most importantly, NTV is interested in it's audience initiating the conversation, content creators and developing an understanding of their audiences.Justin Areinstein from the African Media Initiative joined us where he divulged into the details of the initiative, highlighting the timelines and activities for the initiative. He was also able to clearly illustrate the following for the audience

  • Team structure; A team can be composed of upto 4 members.
  • Technical Assistance: Teams will receive technical assistance from the Code4Africa teams however, the team participants will still have to implement their idea
  • The need for participants to keep their source code under the Creative Commons license

Overall, it was a really great session and we believe great products will materialise out of this.To register for the initiative, visit http://ideaslab.ntvuganda.co.ug<a href="http://www.eventbrite.com/event/8282004699?ref=ebtnebregn" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.eventbrite.com/custombutton?eid=8282004699" alt="Eventbrite - NTV Ideas Lab: Design thinking Workshop" /></a>NTV UgandaIdeaslabJournalismDigital media
