Last weekend, October 5th - 6th 2013, 13 software developers came together at Outbox to participate in the Random Hacks of Kindness (RHOK) East Africa.The hackathon also had participants from Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania.RHOK brings together software developers to build solutions that solve a number of social problems. Team ATAPs won the national RHOK event in Kampala and later on went to win the regional East Africa event.The focus was on "Resilience building Innovations" with thematic areas ranging from Agriculture, Water and Sanitation, health, and Disaster risk reduction.The participants in Uganda were split into three teams working on the following:a) Lyma; a mobile platform to enable farmers determine the appropriate soil types for crops they intend to plant by providing them with on-demand information on land use.
